How to transcribe a recording
- Choose one audio or video file. Unpin shows its name, length and the minutes it needs.
- Sign in with your email if you haven’t yet, then select Transcribe.
- Review and edit the transcript, then copy it or download TXT, SRT or VTT.
Made for spoken recordings
Use it for interviews, lectures, meetings, podcasts and video recordings in English. Accuracy depends on the recording — names, numbers and overlapping speech can come out wrong, so review the transcript before you use it.
Text and subtitle downloads
Copy and TXT include your edits. SRT and VTT subtitles are built from the original timed transcript, so text edits don’t change them and edited words aren’t re-timed. Show timestamps to see when each passage was spoken. Captions aren’t burned into the video.
Supported files and limits
Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A and other common audio files. Video: MP4, MOV and WebM. Each file can be up to 100 MB and 10 minutes, with English speech. Free accounts get 15 minutes per month and Unpin Pro gets 120 minutes per month, resetting on the 1st of each month (UTC). Failed transcriptions don’t use your minutes.
Privacy
Unpin extracts the sound on your device. Only that audio is sent securely to our transcription provider, Deepgram, with model training opted out; the video stays on your device. Transcripts aren’t stored by Unpin.
