How it works
- Upload your photo.
- Brush over the person or object you want removed.
- Select Remove, review the result and download.
What you can remove
- People walking through the background of a travel or street photo.
- Litter, cables, signs and other small distractions.
- Stray objects on a table, floor or product backdrop.
- Detailed backgrounds, such as crowds, patterned surfaces or overlapping subjects, are harder to rebuild and may show blur or uneven edges. The AI fills the space with a plausible background; it cannot recover what was actually hidden.
Formats, limits and credits
- Inputs: JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MB, 16 megapixels and 6,000 pixels on the longest side (at least 64 pixels on each side).
- Output: an image the same size as your photo. Your original file is not changed.
- Cost: 5 Studio credits per removal, covering everything you brushed. This tool is not free.
- A free Unpin account is required. Studio credits can be bought as packs without a Pro subscription; Pro includes 200 credits every month.
Your photo and brushed selection are uploaded to private cloud storage and sent to our AI provider, fal, for processing; nothing is processed on your device. Uploaded files are removed after the job finishes unless another unfinished job still needs them, and scheduled cleanup (about hourly) removes leftover uploads roughly a day after they were added. Results stay private to your account and are removed by the same cleanup about 7 days after they are made, so removal can take a little longer; you can delete results sooner. fal keeps its own copies under its own retention policy. Questions
How do I remove an object from a photo?
Open the AI Object Remover, upload a photo, brush over the object, check the 5-credit cost and select Remove. Then review and download the result.
Can I remove a person from the background?
Yes. Brush over the person, including their shadow if you can. Results are best when the area behind them is simple, such as sky, grass, a wall or a plain floor.
What happens to the area behind the removed object?
AI fills it with background that matches the surroundings. It is an estimate, not a recovery of what was really there, and busy textures can look soft or uneven.
Which image formats and sizes are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP photos up to 20 MB, 16 megapixels and 6,000 pixels on the longest side. HEIC photos can be converted with Unpin’s HEIC to JPG tool first.
How many Studio credits does a removal use?
5 Studio credits per removal, however much you brush. The cost is shown before you start.
Do I need a subscription?
No. You need a free account and Studio credits. Credit packs can be bought without Pro.
What happens if processing fails?
If a removal fails, the 5 credits are returned to your balance automatically. Failed jobs are not resent.
How are my photos processed and stored?
Your photo and selection are uploaded and processed by our AI provider, fal, not on your device. Uploads are removed after the job finishes unless another unfinished job still needs them, and hourly cleanup removes leftovers about a day after upload. Results are removed by scheduled cleanup about 7 days after they are made, or sooner if you delete them.
